A Review of Cazoo: How Does It Compare To FairSquare?

Heard about Cazoo and wondering if it really is as easy as people say it is? You’ve come to the right place.

Today, we’re reviewing Cazoo, a used car dealership. Expect a breakdown of Cazoo’s offerings, including their website, cars, financing options, and Service Centre.

We’ll also dive into how Cazoo compares against FairSquare.

What Is Cazoo?

Cazoo is a used car dealership and finance broker.

They also have a Service Centre for service, MOTs and other maintenance.

The Website: An Overview

Cazoo’s website is simple to use and easily scannable.

On the home page, you’ll be greeted with a search wizard that will allow you to search through all cars by make and model.

Below this, Cazoo features their most recent additions. At the time of writing, it’s a BMW 3 Series, sitting at £16,425.

You can also browse cars by lifestyle: family-friendly, city living, style seeker, outdoor living, and eco-friendly.

Since Cazoo is basically an online business – though they do own the cars they sell, conduct inspections themselves, and have a Service Centre.

We’ll be talking about the features of their website all throughout this article.

The Cars

Cazoo lists around 5,000 cars at any one time, all of which are used. They own all the cars they list. Which means that any car you purchase from them has passed a 150+ point inspection and been fully test-driven.

You can filter through and narrow down your prospective vehicles. Cazoo provides sample financing options front-and-centre before listing a range of scannable details about your car, including:

  • Registration year
  • Mileage
  • Fuel type
  • Transmission
  • Engine
  • Battery capacity
  • Battery range
  • Car history (i.e. the number of past owners)

FairSquare offer this too, however, we believe that we have more options!

Every car also has a 360-degree view image, both inside and outside. You can buy or finance your car completely online, and either schedule a delivery or collection.

Like FairSquare, Cazoo is a finance broker, not a lender. Which means they can help you to find a competitive deal on your car finance repayments.

Cazoo offers two types of financing:

Hire Purchase

Spread the cost of the car by making monthly payments. Once you’ve paid the car off, you own it.

Personal Contract Purchase

Monthly payments are lower than Hire Purchase payments. With an optional final repayment at the end if you decide to keep your car.

Otherwise, you can give the car back to the finance lender (subject to conditions on mileage and condition) or part exchange for another car on a new agreement.

You can also use Cazoo’s part exchange programme to trade in your old car and lower the cost of your next car.

One last thing – once you’ve been accepted for finance, you have 24 hours to pay the deposit before your car gets listed again.

Cazoo publishes short reviews on popular – mostly family – cars.

With an informative summary, quick-jump links, and pros and cons listed at the start, these reviews are helpful if you are considering one of the vehicles listed.

Cazoo also includes information about the car’s specifications and technical features. As well as the focus is on the driving experience and how the car would fare on a practical day-to-day basis.

The Cazoo View

The Cazoo View functions on the site’s blog

They publish videos and stories about real Cazoo customers and the cars they found – like Dean and Gabriel, a couple with “busy lives and a growing family”, who found a Hyundai Tucson.

Cazoo Service Centre

Although most of Cazoo’s business is online, they have Service Centres across the UK. In locations like Wembley, Birmingham, and Cardiff.

Unsurprisingly, Cazoo does as much of the process as possible online. All you need to do is pick a service centre and enter your car registration number.

Then, you’ll be presented with a list of options and prices for MOTs, repairs and other maintenance. You pay on the day when you collect your car.

On the off-chance that something you need isn’t on the car listing or FAQ page, you can phone them 7 days a week 8am-8pm. Or email and expect a response within 24 hours.

T&Cs and Extras

Let’s talk about Cazoo’s small print, plus its optional extras.

  • You can use your vehicle for up to 7 days and return it with a refund
  • All cars listed have had a recent service and MOT, if required. Plus, you’ll be notified of the number of previous owners.
  • Your car comes with a 90-day warranty.
  • Cazoo also includes RAC roadside assistance.
  • Cazoo offer an extended warranty as an optional extra.
  • For a one-time £249 fee, you can purchase Paint Protection+. This is a one-time coating that protects against pollution, extreme temperatures, rust, paintwork fading, dirt, grime and bird droppings.

How Does FairSquare Compare to Cazoo?

Cazoo is a good site for finding used family cars on finance.

However, if you’re looking for a bigger range of cars, both new and used, family cars and beyond, FairSquare is probably your better option.

At FairSquare, you’ll find a range of 4x4s, sports cars, saloon cars, convertibles, city cars and more. Plus, FairSquare’s search function makes it easy to search their 5,000-strong database of vehicles.

FairSquare also offers the most competitive car finance deals and an incredibly personalised finance broker service. For example, you have a larger range of plans at FairSquare, including hire purchase, balloon hire purchase, conditional purchase and fixed sum loan.

FairSquare will also provide a free credit check (with no reflection on your credit score) and listen to your preferences before they match you with a lender.

The Summary: Cazoo vs FairSquare

If you’re on the search for your next used family car on finance, you’re likely to find something on Cazoo.

However, for a larger range, search FairSquare to find your next vehicle and get it delivered to your doorstep, with no contact. We have over 10,000 cars plus we offer thousands of brand new cars lots with large discounts up to 25% off.

We also have more finance options and have cheaper rates. Because FairSquare believes in guiding you through the whole process of purchasing a new vehicle on finance, you’ll find clear approximate monthly payments listed next to each car on our site.

FairSquare is completely transparent with your finance options and are completely independent, so you can trust what our advisers say.

We may be biased, but we think we have the best deals!
